Outside the ring of steel

ABC News/October 2020

The Victorian state government coined the term ‘ring of steel’ during Melbourne’s lockdowns - preventing travel between the city and the regions. It allowed Regional Victoria to come out of lockdown while the big city remained shutdown.

Regional Victoria became a land of its own — locked in by state borders and Melbourne’s quarantine zone, different rules applied and people made the most of it.

I travelled across regional areas doing live crosses to News Breakfast every morning, travelling each day while recording interviews and taking photos for this image heavy digital piece.
